James Corden & Cyndi Lauper Perform 'Girls Just Want Equal Funds'

Here's a fun way to campaign against the absurd gender wage gap: Rework "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" to "Girls Just Want Equal Funds." Cyndi Lauper and James Corden did just that on Monday, donning identical pink hair for the performance.

"I come home in the morning light / My mother says, 'Why don't you make the same as a guy?'" Lauper opened the lighthearted but serious-minded song. Corden came in with this:

"Guys, if she's mad, it's not PMS / It's 'cause you do the same job but she's makin' less / Don't need no Midol, she need more income / 'Cause girls, they want equal funds"

Lauper's new album Detour is her first in six years. It features Willie Nelson, Jewel, Vince Gill and Alison Krauss. Lauper was in the news last month when she opted not to boycott her North Carolina concert, instead using it to "build public support to repeal HB2,” the controversial state bill mandating transgender people to use the bathroom corresponding with their birth gender.
