Justin Timberlake will be taking the stage at the Eurovision Song Contest on May 14. And that's not exactly precedented. In fact, it's the first time a non-competitor will perform at the European music contest.
The organizers announced the news in a statement on Monday (May 9), revealing that JT will be playing his new Trolls soundtrack song, "Can't Stop the Feeling," and making sure to give props to fellow Swedes Max Martin and Shellback, who co-produced and co-wrote the upbeat track with Timberlake.
So says Sven Stojanovic, Show Producer of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest:
"This is a fantastic opportunity, we are very happy and excited that Justin Timberlake will perform his new song together with his band in our show. It makes it extra special that the Swedish songwriters Max Martin and Shellback have co-written and co-produced the song together with Justin Timberlake."
Timberlake will be an "interval act" in the Grand Final, which will be broadcast in the U.S. on Viacom's Logo network at 3 p.m. ET on May 14.
