As the Star Wars universe continues to expand following the gigantic success of The Force Awakens, one of the more hotly anticipated projects is the Han Solo prequel currently slated for a May 25, 2018 release. After months of waiting and thousands of auditions, we now have a young Han Solo, who will take over the role from Harrison Ford in the original franchise.
Deadline reports that Alden Ehrenreich will play the swaggering Solo in the film expected to be titled Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. Ehrenreich is reportedly negotiating his contract with Disney, but the deal is sealed.
So who is Alden Ehrenreich? The 26-year-old Los Angeles native made his film debut in 2009, and appeared in films like Blue Jasmine and Beautiful Creatures. Most recently, Ehrenreich delivered a scene-stealing turn in the Coen brothers comedy Hail, Caesar!. If reports are to be believed, the young actor beat out Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Scott Eastwood for the role.
The Han Solo film is currently in pre-production, with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directing. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, another spin-off film from the ongoing franchise, is due out this December.
