Akon has said some sexist stuff about women on Monday, and of course, people will probably be outraged, only to forget about the whole thing tomorrow.
In an interview with Hollywood Today Live in which he discusses winning a BET Award for his humanitarian work in Africa, the 43-year-old Akon (born Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam) clarified his 2013 statement that men are "natural breeders." He took it upon himself to point out the difference between men and women:
“Why is it that every woman in the world is going through the exact same problem with a man... Just think about it. It’s not a coincidence, it’s just who we are. I always believed that if women took the time to understand men, you literally would run the world. The only reason why men are dominant is because we know more about women than women know about men.”
Makes sense coming from the man who wrote a song about spanking in 2006 (to refresh: "Smack that all on the floor / Smack that give me some more / Smack that 'til you get sore / Smack that oh-oh!" Classic!). Akon clearly knows so much about women that he knows that they like being smacked sore.
“Let’s think about it. [Men] are outnumbered 15 to 1. [Women] are clearly smarter than we are, and you execute a lot quicker and faster more than we do. So how is it that we run the world?”
He went on to compare human gender dynamics to those of lions: "She knows her role, the guy knows his role, and that’s their understanding.” Little does Akon know that male leaders in a pride only have a few years of power before the next alpha male kills him off.
Anyway, that's what he said. I'm going to go research men now.
