As reported by the Associated Press, a small lock of David Bowie’s hair is up for auction.

Back in 1983, a 2 inch piece of Bowie’s hair was cut by Wendy Farrier, who worked as  a wig mistress at Madame Tussauds. The cut hair was used to recreate the color of Bowie’s hair for a wax sculpture. “I remember Mr. Bowie being very relaxed about the whole episode as I approached with scissors quivering!” Farrier wrote in a letter that goes along with the hair.

According to the Associated Press, Bowie’s hair will be part of an auction organized by Heritage Auctions in Beverly Hills, California. The small piece of blonde hair is expected to earn at least $4,000.
