Rumors of a Harry Styles solo career have been audible ever since One Direction announced the group was on hiatus (or are they broken up?). Now, we can say with comfort that Styles is following in the footsteps of his former boy bandmate Zayn Malik, carving out his own path.

Why? Billboard reports that Harry Styles has signed a recording contract with Columbia Records.

The magazine notes that no terms of the deal have been confirmed and there is no timeline on a solo record release. Harry's route to solo-stardom hasn't exactly been clear cut, despite what may have been expected of him. While four songs performed and written by the star were registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) last year, he's recently been spending more time acting than anything else.

He's currently filming the Christopher Nolan directed WWII drama Dunkirk, and plans have even surfaced of him starring as Mick Jagger in a Rolling Stones biopic.
