NYC Mayor Puts Kanye West on Blast for Impromptu Block Party

Following an outlandish turnout for a hastily planned Webster Hall performance that never happened, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted advice to Kanye West on how to throw a “great block party.”

After the last day of Governors Ball was canceled, West and the G.O.O.D. Music crew decided to takeover the Hot 97 Summer Jam and to throw a late-night surprise concert at Webster Hall. West’s perpetual archivist Kim Kardashian Snapchatted a short clip of Kanye attempting to contact the mayor’s office about the impromptu block party. “I need you to call the mayor and shut down a block of about four streets… so they can have a party outside,” West can be heard saying in the video below. “I know it’s sold out already.”

In his tweet to Kim and Kanye, de Blasio suggests that they coordinate an event with he and his wife to “benefit NYC kids.”
