Rihanna transports herself into a world unknown in her new video for "Sledgehammer," the pop star's lead track from the upcoming Star Trek Beyond film. Donning satin garb and graphic lines on her brow-less face, the video reads more like a moving conceptual fashion editorial than your standard music video.
But that's no surprise since 1) this is Rihanna we're talking about and 2) the film is going down in history as the first to premiere in IMAX. The kaleidoscopic effects, bursts of neon colors and the singer's alien-esque dance moves elevate the already-massive ballad even deeper into outer space.
"Sledgehammer" comes right after "This is What You Came For," Rihanna's festival-ready collaboration with Calvin Harris. Star Trek Beyond hits theaters July 22, and will mark Anton Yelchin's first posthumous release (he plays Pavel Chekov) since his tragic death.
