Tony Awards Will Be Dedicated to Orlando Nightclub Victims

After the news emerged of the mass shooting in Orlando nightclub Pulse, the producers of the 2016 Tony Awards have decided to dedicate tonight’s show to the Orlando victims.

“Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando,” The Tony Awards expressed in a statement, pictured above. The awards show will air live at 8 p.m. ET on CBS from the Beacon Theater in New York City.

The Hollywood Reporter also note that the cast of Hamilton have chosen to not use the prop muskets in their Tony Awards performance. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton was nominated in 16 categories and is expected to take home a number of the awards.
