Bow Wow isn't typically someone who airs his political views far and wide, but when it comes to the 2016 election, he let fans know on Wednesday that he's not casting his vote for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
When pressed by fans on Twitter about which candidate he'd vote for, the rapper claimed his heritage doesn't necessarily compel him to participate in the democratic process.
Fans brought up the movie Selma, and whether or not its visceral depictions of the Civil Rights Movement made him feel proud to exercise the right to vote. Bow Wow replied:
Yeah i seen SELMA. Was i related to anyone no. Im saying my moss side of family is NOT BLACK. Heritage different. https://t.co/AIFTxVAdJs— Shad Moss(Bow Wow) (@smoss) July 27, 2016
When told by another fan that his "ancestors died so you could have the right to vote," he brushed the remarks off:
Man i only believe what the eyes see. Im mixed. I dont know what my ancestors was doing. I only know what i see! https://t.co/OdDO2pvtBS— Shad Moss(Bow Wow) (@smoss) July 27, 2016
The rapper, whose real name is Shad Moss, continued to quarrel with fans who struggled to see his point of view, but didn't budge. He affected a kind of apathetic mindset, explaining that he's voted before, only to be let down after the election dust settled. That convinced him to "just stay away" from politics.
But then, Bow Wow tried to inject some humor into the matter, tweeting the he'll vote for Kanye West in the upcoming election. His fans were not so pleased, as Yeezy is not on the ballot for President.
Told "YOU SOUND SOOOOO IGNORANT!!!!!!!" by a very nuance-adept Twitter user, he wrote:
Im not a politician. I dont get into that **** why yall tryna force me to be involved? Like damn I just wanna do me https://t.co/A7tH4UWoq4— Shad Moss(Bow Wow) (@smoss) July 28, 2016
