'Pacific Rim 2' Gets a Release Date, Scott Eastwood in Talks to Join Film

More details have been revealed about the upcoming sci-fi monster film, Pacific Rim 2. The sequel to the 2013 original now has an official release date: Feb. 23, 2018. According to Deadline, Legendary Pictures is looking at Scott Eastwood to play a major (but still undisclosed) role in the movie.

If confirmed, Eastwood will join Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout John Boyega, who will be the son of Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba in the previous film). Directed by Steven S. DeKnight (the creator of Starz' Spartacus), the project will begin production later this year.

Eastwood's pending role in Pacific Rim 2 will boost his already-budding acting career, as it will follow his casting in anticipated films like Snowden, Suicide Squad and Fast 8. While we wait for the sequel's release, click here for our list of all the movies you cannot miss this summer.
