Prophets of Rage played a surprise gig on a rooftop in the Skid Row section of downtown Los Angeles on Friday afternoon. The supergroup, which features members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, have announced a summer tour, and warmed up for their forthcoming run of dates with the rooftop show. Watch footage of the impromptu performance above.
Prophets of Rage's tour begins on July 19 in Cleveland, and will see the band intentionally protest the Republican National Convention, which kicks off in the city a day earlier. In June, guitarist Tom Morello told Rolling Stone about the band's intentions to disrupt the RNC:
"Well there's a thing called the Republican National Convention in July, and that will be a perfect place for a band like Prophets of Rage to cause a ruckus, and we will be there on the streets, in the field. We have a venue and there may be venues that will be spontaneous venues, it's hard to say. This is the kind of thing you don't broadcast to the local authorities prior to arrival."
