The rapper's grandmother instilled in him the understanding of God's power after noticing something was off (Chance was doing acid during that time). He reveals to GQ magazine that he now lets fate take control of his life:

Chance is noted for maintaining his artistic independence and refusing to sign with any record label. "It's like a fucking dick-swinging contest, where they all just brag about who they recently got," he says about the industry. "And so I'm definitely not trying to be a part of their dick-swinging contest. I'm staying far away from all dick-swinging.”

You can't get more honest than that.
