Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchinson has apologized for what he has called a “Twitter meltdown” and alluded to the fact that he is seeking treatment for substance abuse. The Scottish indie rockers have canceled multiple shows as a result.

Last Saturday (as reported by Stereogum), Hutchinson tweeted “Goodbye to Frightened Rabbit,” that the band was a “complete farce” and, “Turns out I’m a complete arsehole. … So don’t buy my records.” On Wednesday, the singer-songwriter walked those comments back, saying that Frightened Rabbit was not breaking up but that the band would have to cancel upcoming appearances because “the priority is recovery.”

Best of luck to Hutchinson on his path toward recovery, and to Frightened Rabbit on overcoming this trying time. The band’s fifth studio album, Painting of a Panic Attack, was released in April.
