For all the Gilmore Girls fans anxious to see if Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore will still be a couple in the upcoming Netflix revival, Scott Patterson is here to ease your mind. Speaking to People, the actor who plays the charming diner owner confirmed the two are indeed an item nine years later.
"I can tell you that we are together. We are together and we're sort of figuring out our next step," Patterson revealed. Phew! While not giving out too many other details (like if the couple will be having a baby), he spilled the beans about a tribute to the late Edward Herrmann, who played Rory's grandfather Richard Gilmore.
Patterson said of Herrmann, who passed away at age 71 in 2014:
"Losing Ed, it left just a gaping hole and it was so tragic and so shocking to lose him. But as far as the storytelling was concerned, it really deepened the scripts and affected the tone of a lot of it—and especially our characters and how we related to one another. On the first day on the Gilmore house set, there were some things there that nobody had seen before that we saw that were so moving, that we all kind of had to sit down...Fans are going to be very touched by how Amy has shown her respect and paid her homage to him."
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is will arrive on Netflix on Nov. 25.
