The avant-pop star premiered her contribution on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, which you can listen to below. Additionally, Lowe aired a short interview with Grimes, who is currently on tour in Europe. She told him how the song came about: “It was an old demo and then I just tailored lyrically and sonically a bit more to what I thought they would want for the movie.” Grimes shared her inspiration for the song:
“To be fair, before they even hit me up about this song I watched the trailer at least 20 or 30 times. I don’t know, it’s Harley Quinn and the Joker. It’s pretty iconic characters. It’s not like a movie that you don’t know anything about it.”
The Suicide Squad soundtrack is jam-packed with features including Lil Wayne, Skrillex, Rick Ross, Kehlani, and much more. Both the movie and its accompanying soundtrack are out August 5. Already, the director David Ayer and fans of the film have responded to its early (bad) reviews. Check out the complete guide to Suicide Squad here.
