When Arnold Schwarzenegger said “I’ll be back,” he wasn’t kidding. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is returning to theaters next year, in 3D, to celebrate… uhh… its 26th anniversary? Whatever, T2 rules!
Actually, Collider reports that the Terminator 2 big-screen return was previously announced for 2016, in conjunction with the 1991 sci-fi classic’s 25th anniversary, and that the re-release was simply delayed to 2017. The film’s official Facebook page has a nifty new peg for the announcement:
August 29th 1997: The day Skynet first became self aware.
August 29th 2016: the day you first saw the brand new poster for Terminator 2 in 3D. Coming to theaters in 2017.
No word yet on when exactly T2 is returning to theaters. Schwarzenegger, who starred alongside Linda Hamilton in the James Cameron film, will be busy in 2017 as the new boss on The Celebrity Apprentice. Click here for a sneak peek of the upcoming show.
