Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift don't have to divulge anything about their personal life. It's really none of our business. But DAMMIT, THIS IS FRUSTRATING.
Swiddleston (or Hiddleswift) (or whatever you guys are calling them these days) flaunted their supposed relationship all over Europe earlier this summer. Their fling, which produced paparazzi shots of Swift meeting Hiddleston's mother and everything, led to rumors that they had a staged romance for the sake of getting footage for a new music video.
Yet, here we are, third Monday of August (Taylor's favorite time for dropping new music), and there's no Hiddleswift music video. And similarly, Hiddleswift haven't been photographed together for a least a month.
What we have, instead, is a quote from Hiddleston describing the whole phenomenon:
"We all live in a world where every phone has a camera and there’s nothing new, really, about the spotlight on me, I think that’s what happens when you’re a public figure," Hiddleston said during a Q&A with The Hollywood Reporter on Friday when they asked him about his very, erm, documented relationship with the pop star.
"I've learned that there are many sides to a story, and that sometimes there are a lot of stories out there which are false and the hardest thing is to try to not let those falsehoods affect your own life. That’s what I would say."
Those falsehoods he's referring to are the music video rumors.
Of course, Hiddleston had previously told The Hollywood Reporter (which is somehow the master of Hiddleswift gossip now) that their relationship was not a publicity stunt. But where have they been for the last month? Are they choosing to keep their relationship private now? Again, none of my business...
Also, why do we constantly need to ask Tom about his personal life? Isn't he an Emmy nominee now? Doesn't he have more important things to talk about?
Just some thoughts. Here's a throwback photo gallery of Taylor Swift to calm us all down:
