Peter Rabbit, Beatrix Potter’s children’s classic book, will be brought to life in a live-action/animated movie thanks to Columbia Pictures. Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley has joined the cast alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Rose Byrne and James Corden, Variety reports.
It was announced last month that Corden will be playing the voice of Peter Rabbit and Byrne as the live-action role of Bea. Ridley and Debicki (The Great Gatsby, next year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2) will provide supporting voices. Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits, Annie) is set to direct, with Rob Lieber penning the screenplay.
The movie, which is adapted from Potter's The Tale of Peter Rabbit (first published in 1902), is expected to hit theaters in April 2018. Along with her breakout role as Rey in Star Wars: the Force Awakens and next December's Star Wars: Episode VIII, Daisy Ridley is set to star in the Hamlet film Ophelia with Naomi Watts. She's also into the idea of playing Tomb Raider's Lara Croft.
