ESL One New York, one of the world's biggest gaming tournaments, is taking over Brooklyn this weekend, and you cannot walk into such an intense (and intensely fun) event without some prep work beforehand. Here's a few tidbits on the event, which takes place from October 1-2 at Barclays Center, to get you hyped up.
ESL One will feature the world’s top eight Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams in a $250,000 tournament, and local and international Street Fighter V players in a $75,000 event. The teams who will go head-to-head for the grand prize are: SK Gaming, G2 Esports, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Fnatic and Astralis. As of now, the final competing team has not been announced.
Fuse has teamed up with ESL for the music portion, which will feature a special live performance by electronic sister duo Krewella on Sunday. Calling the tournament the "Olympics of the gaming community," Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf told us:
"We have a lot of people who put our music to their gaming videos. I remember we had an unreleased song a year ago that someone ripped from a mix we made and put it to a Call of Duty video. It’s an unreleased song that had 200,000 hits from this gaming video. So you can see how amazing that community is."
