Family Ties, the ‘80s sitcom that famously launched Michael J. Fox toward superstardom, is becoming a stage play, and one of the show’s main cast members is not into it whatsoever.
Earlier this week, it was announced (via Variety) that playwright Daniel Goldstein is adapting the sitcom for the stage, with the production debuting in Dayton, Ohio next year. Justine Bateman, who played Mallory Keaton during the show’s seven-season run, found out about the news on Tuesday and had this reaction:
Yikes! Bateman, now 50, has recently appeared on shows like Modern Family and Psych, although she has run a digital production and consulting company in the past and remains best-known for her stint on the sitcom.
The Family Ties play is set to debut at the Human Race Theater in Dayton on June 1, 2017. The cast has yet to be announced (but very likely won’t include a Bateman cameo).
