K-Pop's Hottest Summer 2016 Comebacks: Wonder Girls Are No. 1!

Loads of exciting acts returned with huge releases this summer, but only one can claim the top summer comeback. With summer 2016 officially in the books, here's who you crowned the champ

WINNER: Wonder Girls

UPDATE (9/20): Wow! After more than quarter of a million votes, Wonder Girls have been crowned the winner of Fuse's K-Pop Summer Comeback Battle. The beloved girl group's reggae-pop comeback with "Why So Lonely" clearly was the sound fans wanted this summer and made for the biggest splash amid the heated battle.

It was a battle of the girl groups this summer as the new female act to watch, GFriend, wound up in the runners-up slot with their glittery summer single "Navillera." Meanwhile, Oh My Girl's "Listen to My Word (A-ing)" landed them in third while fellow newcomers Twice were close in fourth. The newest act on the group, the ladies of Blackpink, rounded out the Top 5.

The beloved girl group made their latest comeback with their new band concept with this reggae-pop tune. The song proved to be a massive hit for the girls and topped the domestic charts for weeks.

2nd Place: GFriend

Date: July 11

GFriend is the new girl group to beat and the ladies shied away from their innocent-schoolgirl appeal for a summer look and more electronic elements incorporated into their sound on "Navillera," the lead single to their first full-length album LOL. The results created another chart-topping hit.

3rd Place: Oh My Girl

Date: August 1

The rising girl group landed their most successful single to date with the breezy "Listen to My Word (A-ing)" that featured successful reggae duo Skull & Haha.

4th Place: Twice

Date: April 25

Sure, it was technically released in the spring, but any K-pop fan would agree that "Cheer Up" was one of the inescapable songs of summer. From the song's long chart reign to the viral "sha sha sha" line, this song's hotness barely cooled down when the summer months started and helped the video earn more than 80 million views since its release.

5th Place: Blackpink

Date: August 8

The first girl group to debut under YG Entertainment since 2NE1, Blackpink made a huge splash on the scene with their double singles "Boombayah" and "Whistle" that made them one of the girl groups to watch in K-pop.

6th Place: Red Velvet

Date: September 7

The quintet played to their "red" side for a quirky, synth-pop jam that boasts an addictively catchy chorus.

The boy band landed another huge album with Ex'act that was not only a success from its initial release (boasting two lead singles "Monster" and "Lucky One"), but also when the ninesome dropped its repackaged version with new single "Lotto."

Date: June 21

The chart-topping quartet shied away from their oh-so-catchy bubblegum anthems for something a little more mature. "I Like That" incorporated dynamic guitars and a sultrier sounds for the girl group and made for yet another No. 1 hit for the group.

Date: June 28

For her new EP Why, the Girls' Generation member made the unexpected move by embracing EDM for her latest solo comeback embracing melancholic pop for her title track along with melodic R&B for "Starlight," a duet with rising star Dean.

For her first solo release since the disbandment of 4Minute, HyunA played to her strengths and dropped another pulsating banger with "How's This?"
