'Max Steel' Trailer: The Action Figure Gets Its Own Live-Action Movie

Get ready for yet another live-action adaptation to hit the big screen this fall! Open Pictures released the trailer for Max Steel, a new movie based on the popular Mattel action figure. Ben Winchell (Finding Carter) stars as 16-year-old Max McGrath, who realizes that he's developed super powers due to his dead father's research.

Max is accompanied by a very lively chatterbox robot named Steel, who helps the teen master his newfound energy. The trailer features every element that usually makes an action film great: danger, a bit of awkward romance, comedy, sci-fi and the whole "saving the world" aspect.

Max Steel was first introduced as an action figure in 1997 before turning into animated series from 2000-2002, and was since rebooted on Cartoon Network in 2013. The upcoming film also stars Josh Brenner (the voice of Steel,) Andy Garcia, Maria Bello and Ana Villafane. The script was penned by Marvel's Christopher Yost with Stewart Hendler (Sorority Row) directing.

Look out for Max Steel in theaters on Oct. 14. Below, watch our interview with cartoonist Tom Neely:
