New 'Spawn' Movie Has a 'Dark, R-Rated, Scary, Badass Sort of Script'

Next year will mark 20 years since the Spawn movie, and fans who have been clamoring for Todd McFarlane's antihero to jump into the Marvel/DC cinematic arms race have something to get excited about today.

ComicBook.com broke the news that McFarlane said "the simple answer is yes" when asked about a reboot. The reveal will be featured in an upcoming episode of Kevin Smith's AMC series Geeking Out.

McFarlane, the founder and president of Image Comics, adds that the new Spawn movie—which isn't a sequel—will come from "a dark, R-rated, scary, badass sort of script." Sounds on-brand. ComicBook's story also has a video preview of the Geeking Out conversation between Smith and McFarlane.
