Just a few hours after Shawn Mendes confirmed that he and Niall Horan were collaborators, the One Direction Irishman released a song of his own, "This Town." AND he announced that he has signed a deal with Capitol Records.
The delightfully sweet track is Horan's first solo effort since 1D went their separate ways earlier this year. In this one-mic take, watch Niall strum gently, singing, "Everything comes back to you."
"I'm excited to announce I have signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA and released my first solo song," Horan said in a statement. "Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always. I'm looking forward to the next part of this journey together."
Sia collaborator Greg Kurstin produced the track, which Horan wrote with Jamie Scott, Mike Needle and Daniel Bryer.
On Twitter, Niall wrote, "Been workin in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. thank you for always being there."
Since One Direction split, Horan has been spending his public life as the face of Modest!'s golf management company, putting him on the greens for the last few months.
The rest of the 1D guys have been busy too. Liam Payne and Juicy J finally released the song they had been baking for a while, and Harry Styles filmed Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, a World War I movie. There has yet to be news about Louis Tomlinson's solo career.
Earlier this week, Styles revealed that he shot three different magazine covers for Another Man, which is his first solo magazine cover. In the interview, done by Paul McCartney and Chelsea Handler, he said that One Direction will reunited when it feels right: "It'll be better if it happens naturally," he said.
Like Niall, Liam had signed a record deal with Capitol, and we did a lengthy investigation into what his music will sound like. As for Harry, he's signed with Columbia.
