Zendaya just wanted to buy $400 in gift cards without racism getting in the way. Is that so much to ask?
According to the actor, who was recently cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, when she popped inside a Vons to purchase some GCs, she was treated with rudeness that was based on her "skin tone."
In a matter-of-fact tone, she recounted the events:
“The lady that was helping us, I don’t think she was a huge fan of our skin tone...In fact, I recall her not trying to help us at all, saying that we couldn’t buy the gift cards and then throwing my wallet.”
“She was like, you can’t afford this, is how she looked at me...Long story short, there’s so much progress to be done in our world.”
