Justin Bieber's been navigating his career differently in 2016. A new bullet point in the Biebs' recent history happened Monday night in Birmingham, England, when the 22-year-old asked his characteristically screaming fans to "take a chill pill for a second and just listen to me speak."
Tone is everything, and Bieber's tone was on-point for the interaction. Low-key, rational, eloquent. While trying to share a story about his life of the road, he paused to speak to an especially vocal pack of, oh, maybe 1,000 concertgoers. “Can you guys do me a favor? Can you guys just relax for like two seconds?”
Bieber went on to acknowledge that he appreciates "all the love, it's amazing," but asking if they can "show it in a different way?" Screaming, he says, is just "so obnoxious. I get it, it's been in our blood and it's ingrained, you go to a concert and you scream and stuff."
Shortly after, he brought it home wonderfully:
"I don’t feel like I’m being heard sometimes and it gets a little frustrating. So if when I’m speaking you guys could not scream at the top of your lungs...is that cool with you guys? Can we do that?”
