Update: In Paris for Fashion Week on Sunday, Kim Kardashian West was held at gunpoint in her hotel room. "She is badly shaken but physically unharmed," Kardashian West's rep told CNN.

Original story: Kanye West walked offstage 45 minutes into his set at New York City festival The Meadows due to a family emergency on Sunday night, leaving concertgoers confused.

A man believed to be his assistant ran up to the rapper as he was performing "Heartless" to deliver him some news, but 'Ye originally brushed him aside. After the person wouldn't leave, he listened to him, said, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Family emergency I have to stop the show," and sped offstage.

Shortly after midnight, The Meadows released a statement:

"Due to a family emergency, Kanye West was forced to end his performance towards the end of his set. We appreciate the great show he put on for fans to close out the inaugural Meadows Festival. Our thoughts are with West and his family."

Fans in the crowd reacted in disbelief after the set was cut short.

West's appearance at The Meadows was scheduled after his set was rained out at Day 2 of Governors Ball in June.
