If you've been wondering what's the hold up with Nicki Minaj's Nicki, the pending Freeform (formerly ABC Family) series based on her life, she finally has an answer. During an interview with The Breakfast Club (below), the artist explained why the show's premiere is delayed.

“A lot of things were happening at the same time, and creatively we wanted to make some changes with the pilot,” she said. “We’re taking our time—everyone involved wants it to be perfect and I felt like there were other things that needed to be figured out first.” Sorry Barbz, you still have to wait indefinitely for the upcoming comedy.

The artist previously announced the Nicki cast members: Ariana Neal will play Young Onika, Selita Ebanks as Nicki's mother Grace, Wesley Jonathan as the father and McCarrie McCausland as Nicki's older brother Jaylen. Whoopi Goldberg will guest star as neighbor Miss Martha.

In today's interview, Minaj also recalled her fan freakout when meeting Lauryn Hill at last weekend's TIDAL X: 1015 benefit. "I couldn't control myself. I was at a loss for words. She was super sweet and gracious," the rapper said. "She was in the room next to me the whole time, and I was nervous to even run into her like in the hallway."
