Ryan Murphy continues to see just how far he can take American Horror Story, as the polarizing anthology series just got renewed through Season 9. FX announced the news at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. It comes after October's reveal that the series was officially getting a seventh season.

Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the creators of AHS, just drove us fans absolutely mad with last fall's AHS: Roanoke that was filled with epic twists and too many WTF moments to compute. So it'll be exciting to see what plans they have to make the show even more intense.

But just because he likes to toy with people's brains, Murphy did tease the storyline of Freak Show will seep through Season 7. "Next year, we will be going back to some Freak Show characters, deeper histories and mythologies. So we’re sort of still exploring Season 4 in season 7," he said.

If that wasn't enough, a Murder House/Coven crossover season may happen with Lady Gaga's The Witch character making a return. "It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly
