Those neon-colored Trapper Keepers, rainbow unicorns and cute stickers from your childhood are about to come to life, as a Lisa Frank live-action/animated hybrid movie is in the works! According to Deadline, Jon Shestack (Before I Fall) will helm and produce the project.
“Lisa Frank’s world is cheerful, it’s optimistic, it’s hip, but it is without snark,” Shestack said in a statement. “It’s just sort of impossible to scowl when you’re smiling, and why would you want to? I’m so stoked to be part of this.”
Frank, the legendary businesswoman who founded the brand in 1979, also commented on the news:
“I have always wanted to do a feature film that brings the world of Lisa Frank to life. We have so much backstory on our characters and they have been alive in my imagination since the beginning. Jon Shestack clearly has the credentials and I am very excited about the vision he has shared with me. Our fans are going to love this.”
As of now, the movie doesn't have a title nor a production start date. But it comes after the ongoing trend of Hollywood's reimagining of classic childhood memories, including the 2016 Trolls film, plus the recently announced Snow White live-action movie and the upcoming Ducktales TV reboot.
