Major Lazer call upon Nicki Minaj and PartyNextDoor for their new "Run Up" collaboration, whose breezy vibes will drift you away to a paradise far, far away from the gloomy weather currently weighing down NYC. Major Lazer first teased the track's existence at the 2016 American Music Awards, which will be found on their upcoming fourth album Music Is the Weapon.
Minaj and Party bring their Trinidadian and Jamaican roots to the track, as the rapstress drops boastful verses laced with swagger, sex appeal and patois. PartyNextDoor adds his crooning vocals to the opening and hook, which is backed by Major Lazer's island-tinged production. Nicki also raps, "Bout to drop an album, this is my fourth"—a hint that her new project could be arriving soon.
"Run Up" comes after Major Lazer's "Cold Water" collaboration with music buddies Justin Bieber and MØ last summer. As of now, there is no set release date for Music is the Weapon, the follow-up to 2015's Peace Is the Mission.
