Preview Rihanna's 'Bates Motel' Appearance as 'Charismatic' Marion Crane

Update: A&E has released video featuring Rihanna's spot on Bates Motel. She shows up at the 45-second mark in the clip above.

Original story: Rihanna is on her way to Bates Motel, a.k.a. one of the shows we're most excited about in 2017—and Entertainment Weekly has a couple great photos to get us ready. Rihanna will play Marion Crane, the character originated so memorably by Janet Leigh in 1960's Psycho. The TV show, for newbs, is a prequel.

“It’s this collision of Bates Motel storytelling and then Marion Crane showing up into that," says Kerry Ehrin, an executive producer on the A&E series. "[Norman Bates] is in a very fragile and lonely place, and Marion Crane is a charismatic woman, she’s super present when she’s with him and she’s very attractive—all those things are exactly what he needs right at this moment.” She adds that "where we go with it is very different."
