That demonic nun from The Conjuring 2 will be returning to haunt your nightmares in the movie's spin-off The Nun, which now has a release date. New Line Cinema announced the third film in the franchise will premiere on July 13, 2018. British director Corin Hardy (The Hallow, the long-awaited remake of The Crow) is set to helm the spin-off.
James Wan (who directed the two films) and Peter Safran will be returning as producers of The Nun. We learned in The Conjuring 2 (released last June) that the nun is actually a demon named Valak who came out of a painting to terrorize Vera Farmiga's character Lorraine Warren. Lorraine and her husband Ed (played by Patrick Wilson) were two real-life paranormal investigators whose work inspired the Amityville Horror franchise.
The Nun is New Line Cinema's latest dive into horror, following 2014's Annabelle that also has a sequel coming up May 19, 2017. Keep the thrill going with this Elizabeth Reaser interview, where she tells Fuse why filming Ouija: Origin of Evil was "psychologically terrifying".
After that, check out a list of all the movies we're excited for this year.
