Garnering over three million votes in our Rep Your Ladies bracket poll, Japanese teen rock idols Babymetal are officially named the champs! As if fending off pop stars like Ariana Grande and Britney Spears over the poll's five rounds wasn't impressive enough, Babymetal was the youngest act in our poll and the only non-English speaking act too.

For dedicated Babymetal fans, who voted tirelessly, this is just another accomplishment on the J-pop/metal trio's growing list of achievements. If you've been following their career, the win should not be a surprise. To those unfamiliar with the Japanese band, now's a good time to get familiar.

After debuting in Japan in late 2010, Babymetal's evolution from Japanese rock phenomenon to legit global stars has been written on the wall for a minute.  Famous fans of the teen rockers include Lady Gaga, Marilyn Manson, Skrillex, Anthrax and more.

Last April the Japanese band's sophomore album Metal Resistance debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at No. 39, not an easy feat for an international act not singing in English. Earlier this year they joined Red Hot Chili Peppers on their recent U.S. tour and they're part of an upcoming U.S. tour with Korn and Stone Sour. It's clear these three women are a force to be reckoned with on the rock music scene.

We launched the Rep Your Ladies poll as part of our celebration of Women's History Month, and it's pretty awesome the winners are three young women who have managed to infiltrate the male-dominated world of metal music, on their own terms and in their own language.

Thank you, and ありがとうございました, to all the loyal fans around the world who voted in Rep Your Ladies, for ALL the incredible female artists featured. These fierce women are unique and diverse, but are all amazing at what they do, and your unwavering dedication is a testament to that.
