It's a sad day for metalheads, as HIM have announced their breakup after being together for 26 years, Alternative Press reports. The Finnish band revealed the news on Facebook with a lengthy statement explaining "HIM has run its unnatural course and adieus must be said in order to make way for sights, scents and sounds yet unexplored. We completed the pattern, solved the puzzle and turned the key."

"At the end of 2017, we will be released into the wild," band member Mige continued. "Before this event of great transformation, we would love to offer you one last chance to experience our live performances in His Majesty's service. It shall not be a weepfest but a celebration of love metal in all its lovecraftian glory! See you there!"

Along with the disbandment news, the metal act have also announced a farewell tour where their longtime fans can see them perform around the world one last time. So far, the trek only runs throughout Europe and the U.K. But HIM states U.S. dates will soon be announced. Tickets go on sale to the public on March 8 at 9 a.m. local time.

HIM was formed in 1991 by lead singer Ville Valo and bassist Mikko "Mige" Paananen. They released their debut album Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 in 1997. The act's eighth and final LP, Tears on Tape, dropped in April 2013. See HIM farewell current dates below:
