Update (3/24): Kendrick's "IV" Instagram post is gone—but the new song "The Heart Part 4" is here.

Original story (3/23): Kendrick Lamar may have just announced his fourth album is on the horizon. The rapper wiped his Instagram account clean save for a single post, which is a simple photo of the Roman numerals "IV." While there isn't a caption, the cryptic message could surely mean his new LP is imminent.

Lamar previously hinted that his next album may not be focused on rap. He told Rick Rubin in a GQ Style interview in October, "Yeah, I think I got the confidence for it. If I can master the idea and make the time to approach it the right way, I think I can push it out." But if he does plan to step away from rap, it wouldn't be a far stretch as Lamar has toyed with contemporary jazz sounds and vocal melodies on To Pimp a Butterfly.

"It's a trip, because I was in the studio one day, and my guy Terrace Martin noticed something about the type of sounds that I was picking," he said about experimenting with new music. "He was like, 'Man, a lot of the chords that you pick are jazz-influenced. You don't understand: You a jazz musician by default.' And that just opened me up. And he just started breaking down everything, the science, going back to Miles, Herbie Hancock."

The Compton artist's next album will be the follow-up to 2015's TPAB. He also released his untitled unmastered compilation last March. As we wait for more details, watch us catch up with Kendrick Lamar at his Reebok sneaker release:
