Sorry New Girl fans, but the Fox sitcom could be reaching its end very soon. Well, at least that's what Jake Johnson thinks. The actor (who plays the grouchy Nick Miller) told The Daily Beast the show will probably end following the Season 6 finale on April 4.

“Fox won’t tell us [whether the show will be renewed]. But we shot a finale where, if this was the end, the core fan base would be okay," Johnson explained. The Daily Beast also points out the show's ratings have continued to drop since its premiere, as more people are streaming instead of tuning into Fox. So if New Girl officially wraps up, viewers can cross their fingers for Nick and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) to reignite their on/off romance.

Johnson later clarified his initial comments on Twitter, saying "Let's be clear. I have no idea if NG is coming back. I was doing an interview for #WinItAll & was asked my guess. We've been told it's 50/50."

Liz Meriwether, the show's creator, also stated she is unsure if it will return. As for Fox? The network states it is "currently in discussions" with the studio. Along with Johnson and Deschanel, New Girl also stars Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone, Megan Fox and Damon Wayans, Jr.

While we wait to hear if New Girl plans to continue, keep up with all things pop culture and nostalgia with the latest episode of Fuse's Besterday podcast:
