On Tuesday night, Heben Nigatu and Tracy Clayton's indispensable Another Round podcast did a 90-minute live interview with Remy Ma. The conversation took place at New York City's The Wing, "a home base for women—a work and social space designed for convenience and connection."
The far-ranging talk was livestreamed and can be rewatched above; it's also available in BuzzFeed's standard Another Round podcast feeds. Remy spoke on gendered differences in legal sentencing and prison conditions (in August 2014 she concluded a six-year sentence), her recent miscarriage, critics of abortion, and revealed she and rapper husband Papoose are writing a book.
And of course there was talk of Nicki Minaj, whom Remy recently ethered with the seven-minute "ShETHER," the most brutal and personal diss track in a very long time:
“I actually liked her, but don’t try and come for me. It just bothers me that me picking apart another female is what went viral. We could’ve done this working together. ... I just think it would’ve been cooler if we came together and did something crazy and that’s what everyone was talking about. I don’t regret it, I’m just not particularly proud of it.”
Remy added that she was "never waiting for a response" and that "it's over now." A few more highlights:
Fun fact: Remy wanted to be a mortician as a child. Some might say she fulfilled that dream recently lol.— Another Round (@anotherround) March 8, 2017
