One of the most popular books from your high school English class reading list is now coming to the big screen! Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon are set to star in HBO's movie adaptation of Fahrenheit 451, Variety reports.
Jordan will play Guy Montag, a young fireman whose job is to burn the possessions of people who read outlawed books. The character's storyline finds him fighting to regain his humanity. Shannon will portray Captain Beatty, Montag’s fire chief and mentor. The film is based on Ray Bradbury's classic dystopian novel that was released in 1953.
Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes) is the movie's director, and also co-writing the script with Amir Naderi. The list of co-executive producers is a long one: Jordan, Bahrani, Sarah Green, Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and David Coatsworth. Since the adaptation is still in its baby development stages, a premiere date isn't confirmed yet.
Jordan is prepping Creed 2 (tentatively set for a Nov. 2017 release) and 2018's Black Panther. As for Shannon? He previously starred in last year's Nocturnal Animals. Keep updated on all things pop culture and nostalgia with the latest episode of Fuse's Besterday podcast:
