If you're gonna come back for the unnecessary 20-years-later Independence Day sequel, you should always come back for the unnecessary-but-at-least-very-fun 15-years-later Jurassic Park series. And Jeff Goldblum knows! Dr. Ian Malcolm will appear in Jurassic World 2, rejoining the franchise for the first time since 1997's second film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Goldblum's wry chaotician was a show-stealer in Steven Spielberg's '94 original.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news; there's no other info about Goldblum's Jurassic return yet. Director J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls, The Orphanage) is taking over for Colin Trevorrow, who is on to Star Wars: Episode IX.
Last week, star Chris Pratt said Jurassic World 2 will be scarier and "a little bit darker," adding that the sequel to the No. 4 highest-grossing film of all time "will continue to expand and carry the story forward in a way that is really unexpected and you wouldn’t have imagined." His co-star Bryce Dallas Howard is also coming back.
