In case you were about to doze off on this slow Tuesday afternoon, Disney just dropped some exciting news that will wake you right up! The studio announced the 2019 release dates for some of the most anticipated movies ready to hit the big screen: the live-action Lion King remake, Star Wars: Episode IX and Frozen 2.
The remake of the 1994 animated classic will arrive on July 19, 2019, while the conclusion to the third Star Wars trilogy is coming on May 24, 2019. The Frozen sequel will premiere on Nov. 27, 2019. But that's not all! Indiana Jones is now pushed from July 19, 2019 to July 10, 2020 to make room for Lion King. Wreck-It Ralph 2 (shifted from March 9, 2018 to Nov. 21), Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time (moved up from April 6, 2018 to March 9) and Mark Waters' comedy Magic Camp (Aug. 3, 2018 to April 6) also received updated release dates.
The Lion King remake cast Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones is returning as Mufasa. Jon Favreau, the director behind The Jungle Book live-action film, is reportedly eyeing Beyoncé to voice Nala. Star Wars: Episode IX, the final film in the sequel trilogy, follows this year's The Last Jedi (out December 15).
