Kids of the '80s and '90s finally have an answer to the age-old question of "Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?" Netflix!
The streaming service is working on an reboot based around the popular children's computer game from the '80s. The Hollywood Reporter says Netflix has ordered twenty 22-minute episodes of a Carmen Sandiego animated series. Gina Rodriguez will voice the infamous fedora-wearing villain, while Finn Wolfhard (who stars as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things) will be the voice actor for Player, Carmen's accomplice.
For Rodriguez's part, the Jane the Virgin star says she already has the fedora and coat:
I already have the fedora and coat. So it's definitely true. 🙌🏽😍🦄 https://t.co/Fg2T6yw8W3— Gina Rodriguez (@HereIsGina) April 15, 2017
While initially created as an educational computer game, the Carmen Sandiego brand led to several TV series including '90s live-action shows Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? and Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego?, plus an animated series. Sandiego also had her own book and comic series.
The series will come in 2019. It's the latest nostalgia-tinged series from Netflix following upcoming shows like Bill Nye Saves the World and Julie's Greenroom, which stars Julie Andrews and Jim Henson puppets.
Keep the nostalgia going with the cast of the new Power Rangers movie talking about joining their beloved series:
