'Justice League' Worse Than 'The Avengers,' Says Superman's Own Mother

Another day, another delightfully messy situation on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Diane Lane has played Superman's Earth-mother, Martha Kent, for two films now, in DC's Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Next up is this November's Justice League, which may not have the full faith of the 52-year-old actress.

"Can you give us any Justice League spoilers? And, do you think it'll be better than The Avengers?" asked the first fan to call in. Lane took a small breath before confidently answering, "No and no." With a laugh, she added, "Short but honest. I hate to disappoint, but..."

It's hard to imagine a future where Lane doesn't walk back the comment, either because she values the presumably lucrative DCEU gig or because the studio successfully conviced/begged her. Will she tell us she meant it box office–wise, or that it was just a joke, or that she meant the Avengers could beat up the Justice League and that she loves a good underdog story? Or will she just show up to Fallon in a MARVEL RULEZ T-shirt and talk about how much she didn't like Suicide Squad?

Anyway, just for the sake of fair play, here's hoping Wonder Woman can get DC back in the game, which still sits entirely in the hands of Marvel Studios at the moment.
