A tattoo shop is worth nothing without a stellar group of artists. These are the faces of Miami Ink. From left to right, Chris Nuñez, Darren Brass, Chris Garver, Yojiro Harada and Ami James surround Kat Von D.
You want talent? Look no further than the most respected tattoo artist on Miami Ink, Chris Garver. He's considered among the world's best tattooists, has tattooed tons of celebrities, and has a waiting list that can wind out as long as two years. He was the first among the group to become a tattoo master, and he's the oldest among them as well – so it's only right that he's looked up to by all the artists as a beacon of the kind of tattooers they want to become.
Kat Von D
One of the biggest stars in Miami Ink history, Kat Von D is a huge part of the action in Season 1. She would later have beef with some of the Miami Ink crew toward the end of Season 2 and leave the shop to open her own place in Los Angeles, where she grew up.
Born in Israel, Ami James moved to Miami at a young age. He became obsessed with tattoos as a teenager and wound up hitting the big time by co-owning Miami Ink. Ami is hard to miss on Miami Ink – he's involved with every aspect of decision-making and is one of the most talented members of the group. He would later move to New York and set up his own shop there.
Cuban-born, Miami-raised tattoo artist Chris Nuñez got his first ink at the young age of 16. Now, it's buried under a sea of new ones. The Miami Ink star is a co-owner of the shop and actually began his career as a graffiti artist!
You should probably get familiar with what these look like if you're going to watch Miami Ink!

While his tattoos make him stand out as one-of-a-kind in his hometown of Tokyo, Yojiro is still earning his stripes in Miami.
Tattooist Darren Brass considers Chris Garver, Joe Vegas and Ed Hardy among his influences. Among the cast of Miami Ink, he stands out for making first-time clients feel relaxed while they experience going under that buzzing needle for the first time.
