Ne-Yo Talks Working With Jay-Z and Beyonce, Pranking One Direction
Prolific R&B singer/producer Ne-Yo is set to have an even busier month than usual. On November 5, one day before releasing his fifth album R.E.D., the "Let Me Love You" singer will get his own Fuse Takeover, meaning all Ne-Yo, all day.
At 5 pm that same day, head over to Fuse's YouTube page for “Fuse Live: Ne-Yo,” a live stream concert straight from the Fuse studio. But you don't have to wait til then to get your Ne-Yo fix. After admitting recent musical loves Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz and Frank Ocean, the singer spoke to us about working with Jay-Z, Beyonce, David Guetta and Calvin Harris. Dude gets busy. We already spoke to the singer about his own album R.E.D., but some highlights from above:
On Pranking One Direction: "We were all in the same room. They were actually doing an interview on the couch behind me. I turned around and said, ‘OH MY GOD IT’S ONE DIRECTION!’ The whole room stopped. It was just me making fun of the whole situation. I think I might have scared the guys."
On Working With Jay-Z: "I was in the studio with Jay and it was amazing that this man does not write anything down. If you’ve ever taken the time to break down a Jay-Z lyric and just how many double and triple entendres he uses, the fact that he doesn’t write any of that stuff down just speaks to the intelligence of the man."
On Working With Beyoncé: "Working with Beyoncé is some of the most useless I’ve ever felt because she doesn’t need any help. She’s that good. I think I might have stepped out of the room to get tea, came back, and the song was done."
