Immortal Technique Shocked to Find Out David Lee Roth Is a Fan

When Fuse's Esteban Serrano sat down with Immortal Technique at Paid Dues, the Afro-Peruvian Harlem rapper told us about a recent incident that left the usually outspoken MC at a loss for words: Meeting the frontman of Van Halen.

"I met David Lee Roth at the Huffingon Post office," Technique tells Fuse. "We had time to chop it up for a tiny bit. He gave me a lot of words of encouragement, and I didn't even expect him to know who I was. He was like, 'Oh, Immortal Technique, I like what you have to say. I like what you put in your music.' I was like, 'Is this guy talking to me right now?' But shout-out to David Lee Roth: You're the f-cking man, bro."

The fiercely independent rapper also explained what's delaying the release of his upcoming album The Middle Passage. His answer is one of the best we've ever heard to this question. "I don't have a baby sitter. I gotta do my own laundry, renovate my house and take care of my family," he says. "I have real world problems." Despite laundry and house repairs, Immortal Technique says he's "got half of the songs done" for The Middle Passage.
