Killer Cartoons: Watch Queens of the Stone Age's Bloody "Kalopsia" Video
Queens of the Stone Age made their name with drone-buzz guitar riffs, head banging beats and all-around badass aggression, of the motorcycle-riding sort. Hence the Stoner Rock or Desert Rock tags perma-attached to the band from California's Inland Empire. But with "Kalopsia," a track from their upcoming June 4 release ...Like Clockwork, frontman Josh Homme and Co. drop a lullaby that truly paralyzes. And its just-released video is the animated nightmare their deceptively-gentle song lulls listeners into. Watch above.
The band explain that Kalopsia is "a condition wherein things appear more beautiful than they are" That idea is central to the video, directed by UK artist Boneface, who also designed the album cover. It's visually gorgeous, but gory, bloody and violent, too.
