"Inner Ninja" MC Classified: "Rap From Canada Is Still Unheard Of"

If you've been watching Fuse much this week you've noticed we've been giving special love to Classified's latest video "Inner Ninja." That's for two reasons: 1.) It's awesome, and 2.) We've named Classified a Fuse Favorite.

Reason one is pretty self-explanatory, but what does it mean to be a Fuse Favorite?

It means if you haven't heard Classified before, you should check him out now. (In fact, for ease of sampling, you can find the "Inner Ninja" video below.)

Fuse recently sat down with the MC to chat about his upcoming performance at the 2013 MMVAs and what it's like being a rapper who reps Canada as his home country.

"Coming over the border to [America], the border patrol was like, 'What do you do for a living?' I told them, 'I do rap music.' And they're like, 'There's rap music in Canada?!' It's still an unheard-of thing, so we gotta let people know."

Classified also talked about his just-released third major label album, which is self-titled mostly because he didn't know what else to call it.

"When an album is done I usually sit down and think, 'What's that recurring theme?' [With this one] I kept dwelling on a couple things but by the end of it I was like, 'I'm not going to just name it to name it, I want to have a reason for it.' And I thought, 'Well, I've never had a self-titled album,'" he said. "But it's great because I got my worldwide deal and so I'm a brand new artist to all these people now. And since self-titled albums are what you usually do for your first album, it worked out right."

And you can also catch Classified performing at the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards alongside Demi Lovato, Avril Lavigne, Ed Sheeran, Phillip Phillips and co-host Psy on Sunday, June 16 at 9/8c—only on Fuse. (If you don't know where Fuse is on your TV, you can track it down using our Channel Finder.)
