Singer-Songwriter Ryan Star Conquers the "Impossible" in New Video

If you don't know singer-songwriter Ryan Star, well, you've certainly heard his music. His 2012 hit "Stay Awhile" has racked up almost two million YouTube views, and his music has been featured in more than 50 movies and TV shows, including P.S. I Love You and Vampire Diaries. Today, Fuse has the exclusive premiere of his latest video, "Impossible." Watch above.

Star, a Long Island native who has toured with Rob Thomas, Bon Jovi, The Script, Train, Goo Goo Dolls and E Street Band legend Steven Van Zandt, told Fuse about the new clip. It focuses on a smoking-hot young couple who swig whiskey, take pills and rob jewelry from fancy homes.

"'Impossible' is a song about battling the light and the dark in all of us," says Star. "I heard a quote that humans are a hybrid between angels and animals and thought that's what I've been writing about. It's a dark and aggressive break up song saying I am sorry but we are who we are. The video captures the unsteadiness and the turbulence of a relationship that can't find its even ground to stand on. A lot of light and dark forces push and pull with the sensual magnetism that comes from it."

He adds, "My high school swim team would be proud of the pool scene."

Ryan signed to Island Def Jam in 2012, but is self-release his new music, which has an increasingly alternative bent, to maintain ownership of all aspects of the record release process. And in this age of having to download an app in order to hear a record, major props to that.
